In truth, thatâs how she grew to become excited about working within the technology business. At the time, she couldnât afford to purchase a pc for her son, so she decided to purchase the components separately (for much less cash) and assemble the machine on her own. Originally, Gloria was learning to turn out to be a nurse. However, she decided to alter her major because of her knack for expertise. Gloria went on to earn her Bachelorâs Degree and Masterâs Degree in Computer Science from Governors State University. After incomes her Masterâs Degree, Gloria began working for Chicago Public Schools, coaching the academics how to use the computers and other new know-how. Gloria was laid off and had been out of work for three years when she discovered about IT Career Lab from a good friend who noticed a flyer on the Skokie Public Library. Gloria wanted to get again into the technology trade, however she knew that her previous schooling was outdated and not sufficient to land her a technology job. She started working with National Able Network Career Coach, Shawn McKenzie on the Chicago Workforce Center in Pilsen and began class in January 2014. During Gloriaâs second week of sophistication, she grew to become very intimidated by the curriculum being taught and regarded quitting. But with the encouragement and assist of IT Career Lab Program Manager, Donna Claxton, she was impressed to keep going. âI advised myself I could do this. I studied diligently. I took notecards with me all over the place I went so I may study wherever I was.â Gloria earned all three of her certifications on the primary attempt and is very happy that she stuck with IT Career Lab and by no means gave up. She even took advantage of National Able Networkâs Job Readiness Training program to arrange her for her job search! âEveryone is very good and friendly. They need to allow you to succeed,â said Gloria. âNow I am wanting forward to a great job!â Gloria is participating in an internship at National Able Network within the IT Department while actively on the lookout for a know-how career.
